Step-by-Step Guide

Follow these steps to create a kitty cat Valentine’s Day box that will impress everyone:

  1. Start by taking the white crepe streamer and wrapping it around the box once. Measure this length and cut at least 15 lengths of streamer. Stack them and cut a 1/8″ “fringe” along one side, lengthwise. Only one half of the streamer should be fringed, while the other half remains intact.

  2. Cut another streamer the same length as the diameter of the box. Using a glue gun, secure it around the bottom of the box. This will serve as the base layer to cover the box underneath.

  1. Begin layering the fringed streamers, securing them to the box with a glue gun. Each layer should meet in the same spot, and excess should be trimmed off after each layer is secured. Continue layering until you reach a height that will allow the lid to cover the box (approximately 1/2″ from the top).

  2. Cut a slot in the lid of the box for the Valentine’s Day cards to fit in. Then, cover the lid with the same layer effect as the main part of the box, including the sides. Use a sharp exacto knife to recut the slot (after being covered by the fringe). Trim off any excess fringe to achieve a clean, rounded edge.

  1. Now it’s time to create the face! Use circle cutters to make two eyes and two cheeks out of the black, white, and pink glitter foam paper. Hand draw a heart for the nose using the pink foam paper and cut strips out of the black foam paper for the whiskers. Attach all these elements using a hot glue gun.

  1. Lastly, for the ears, cut out two triangles from cardboard and two smaller triangles from the pink foam paper. Cover the cardboard triangles with fringe and then attach the pink triangles using hot glue. Attach the ears to the kitty cat’s head with hot glue, ensuring that they don’t cover the card slot.

And voila! Your kitty cat Valentine’s Day box is complete!

Get Creative!

Feel free to unleash your creativity by switching up the colors, adding more decorations, or even creating a tail for your kitty cat. You can also try making other animal-themed Valentine’s Day boxes, like a fox, a pink penguin, or a raccoon. The possibilities are endless!
